Russian salad

4 1 h Easy


  • 200 gr. of carrots
  • 500 gr of potatoes
  • 300 gr. of peas (the frozen are fine)
  • 300 gr. of mayonnaise (for the homemade one see here)
  • 1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


  • Clean the carrots and the potatoes, peel and dice them into little squares (about the size of a pea).
  • Boil (or steam cook) the vegetables separately in salty water being careful to keep them littlr crunchy (it will take 7 to 10 minutes for the potatoes and 5 to 7 minutes for the paes and the carrots).
  • When done drain and keep them into a strainer to let them dry.
  • Place the vegetables into a bowl season with the olive oil, the vinegar, add the mayonnaise salt and pepper to taste.
  • Keep the salad in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.

A nice idea to serve this salad could be:

  • put it in a mould (previously lined with some plastic film).
  • Refrigerate it and garnish with some boiled eggs and cucumber pikle.
